Consumer Marketing Manager – London – up to £60K plus Bonus


My client is a consumer tech platform that offers students great discounts across a number of different brands. They work across both B2B and B2C based on the partnerships they build with 3rd parties and they consumers they drive to their technology platform. Ambitious, passionate and creative marketing manager required to help take the world’s largest student affinity network to its next stage of growth.

Reporting to and working closely with the EMEA Marketing Director, this is a position for someone who thrives on a challenge; an analytical and commercial marketer who has experience in building brands and growing audiences, and with a strong grasp of digital media and performance marketing.

The Consumer Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing brand strategies and consumer marketing plans that drive brand awareness and member acquisition. You will play a key part in growing the member base, bringing the proposition to new market segments and maximising sign up within existing segments.

With a significant marketing budget, this is an opportunity for the right individual to truly change and improve the way the proposition is marketed, using impactful and effective marketing channels across ATL and digital that will drive brand awareness and desirability, acquisition and word of mouth.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Working with the Marketing Director to develop the consumer marketing strategy and media plan.
  • Developing and implementing the seasonal campaigns and events calendar, from briefing to creative development (via in-house creative agency), campaign planning and reporting.
  • Managing the media agency including performance media, from campaign briefing and creative assets development through to campaign optimisation and reporting.
  • Managing brand collaborations and co-marketing initiatives that generate brand awareness and social engagement within key audiences and member acquisition.
  • Managing any other third-party agency required to deliver agreed brand activity e.g. PR stunts, events and experiential.
  • Working closely with the global Social & Content, CRM and Retail teams to ensure those channels are fully aligned with the UKIE brand activity at all times.
  • Overseeing the UKIE roll out of a new Refer-A-Friend programme.
  • Overseeing the UKIE roll out of a new Rewards programme that drives loyalty and advocacy amongst super users.
  • Working closely with the Trade Marketing Manager to ensure brand plans and partner plans are synergistic, so that acquisition and sales are maximised at all times.
  • Working with the Marketing Director and Data Science team to implement tracking and reporting of site / app performance, as well as media delivery. You will analyse performance of the marketing activity, and communicate campaign results and learning.
  • Managing and developing one direct report.

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate the following;

  • 5+ years consumer marketing experience
  • Industry experience would ideally include consumer tech or retail (e.g. JustEat, Uber, AirBnB etc.)
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Proven budget experience (large budgets £1m+)
  • A creative thinker and problem solver
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Experience working with media agencies, planning ATL and display advertising campaigns
  • Proficient in managing performance media especially paid search and paid social, and including planning A/B experiments and optimising conversion performance
  • Numerate, with a passion for data, insight and analytics
  • Experience with developing creative, through in-house or external agency
  • Good understanding of social media including Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook
  • Demonstrable project management skills and attention to detail
