IT Security Analyst (Assurance Advisor)

Hampshire Contract / 6 Months' £350 - £400 per day

IT Security Analyst (Assurance Advisor) required who can advise on new and existing ICT systems, advising and assisting project boards and Technical Architects to ensure that controls commensurate with national and local requirements. This role is based in Winchester, with travel to Oxford and is offered on a 6 month contract. You will be working within a secured environment and for this reason you will have to go through rigorous security vetting.

Candidate must be happy to go through security vetting, the client works in sensitive secure government information which are for UK eyes only. Therefore only British Passport holders or people that have lived in the UK for 5+ years are eligible to apply.

The Successful Security Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Provide expert Security advice to Technical Architects and Project Managers.
  • Assist in the provision of advice and guidance on IT security to members of the department and within the business areas to ensure all stakeholders have a clear understanding of IT Security controls and processes
  • Provide advice and guidance that is aligned to current companies policies
  • Work with the company’s auditors and accreditors on the audits of IT security controls.

The Successful Security Analyst will need experience in:

  • Qualification or significant experience in a relevant discipline e.g. Information Governance, Data Protection, Information Assurance / Security, MoPI.
  • Appropriate professional qualification in relevant discipline, e.g. MSc Information Security, CISSP, CESG Certified Professional etc
  • Effective communication skills, dealing with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven advanced user skills in office computer applications.
  • Technical understanding of IT systems and risk management processes. Must be familiar with Cloud and Mobile technologies.
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity and trust when dealing with sensitive and classified information.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage workload whilst remaining positive and motivated.
  • Proven understanding of Information Assurance principles
  • Appropriate professional qualification in relevant discipline, e.g. MSc Information Security, CISSP, CESG Certified Professional etc.
  • Take actions required to maintain membership of a professional body for the purposes of continuing professional development through shared experience, knowledge and training.
  • Understanding of ISMS 27001 and experience in auditing the same will be helpful
