We are working with one of the world’s leading e-commerce sites to hire a Big Data Architect to join their exceptional team based in Central London. The Big Data Architect will be responsible for architecture design, data modelling, and implementation of Big Data platform and analytic applications for consumer products. This position will contribute to development of innovative global mobile Internet services such as app store, game centre, personal data synchronisation, cloud photo, phone finder, and payment/wallet, etc. Basic salaries range from £100,000 – £130,000 with a generous bonus and benefits package.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform architecture design and implementation of Big Data platform applications for consumer products.
  • Analyse the latest Big Data technologies and their innovative applications in both business intelligence analysis and new service offerings. Bring these insights and best practices to the global consumer business.
  • Expand data as service collaboration with partners in other international markets.
  • Apply deep learning capability to improve understanding of user behaviour and data
  • Develop highly scalable and extensible Big Data platform which enables collection, storage, modelling, and analysis of massive data sets from numerous channels.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Over eight years of engineering and/or software development experience
  • Experience in architecture and implementation of large and highly complex projects.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing infrastructure and platforms.
  • Hands-on experience of NoSQL databases in production (e.g. HBase, Cassandra, Druid, Kudu, Riak, Neo4j, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience of data streaming technology in production (e.g. Spark, Storm, Kafka etc.)
  • Coding mastery of one of Scala, Java or Python
