Cognos/BI Technical Lead

The Cognos/BI Administrator will be responsible for providing technical expertise for new and existing software systems and technologies in the CLIENT suite of products.
Key responsibilities include:
– Embrace and learn CLIENT’s new and developing Cognos environment
– Participate in its configuration, migration, and implementation across and promotion to all development, test, and production environments.
– Participate in designing/implementing software testing environments; this includes architecture reviews and recommendations, installation/configuration of software and its integrations, and proactively upholding security standards.
– Lead small technical projects involving security, testing and production environment improvements, and data center migrations.
– Provide technical expertise to ensure a continued maturity of CLIENT’s SDLC through effective build, deploy, and versioning practices.
– Administering Cognos BI systems on a day to day basis to ensure platforms meet our SLAs. This might include installation, support, configuration and tuning
– Tuning Cognos and associated systems for expected performance and taking remedial actions when required
– Provide escalated support (L3) for level 2 support teams
– Support deployment of packages, reports and other BI content. Support code migration from development to QA to production environment
– Troubleshoot issues within Cognos and associated environments and install fix packs
– Perform upgrades, set up security roles and users and troubleshoot issues
– Prepare technical documentation for various Cognos applications
– Participate in planning and executing disaster recovery procedures

Qualifications

Position Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Experience with Cognos 8-10 BI Environments
-5+ years experience in administering Cognos 8/10 BI in a multi-server environment
-1+ years experience in Cognos development
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
-Excellent organizational skills
Desired
-IBM Certified Administrator Cognos 10 BI – preferred
-End to End understanding of a BI distributed installation (including Cognos services, cognos communications, firewall, loadbalancer, gateways, application servers, content manager, databases and satellite applications)
-Basic knowledge of PL/SQL and scripting languages
-Experience in Cognos RTM, Audit and SDK is a plus
-Experience working with programming concepts, preferably Java
-Experience working with data warehousing standards, strategies, and tools
