A major telecommunications corporation are in the midst of a massive shift towards becoming a digital first operation. As part of this transformation you will join a fast growing data engineering team working with huge volumes of information collected both domestically and overseas. The team are building real-time data processing applications enabling analytical models to drive decision making, which in turn empowers senior stakeholders and the wider business to drive decisions.

You will be responsible for a growing team of data engineers and tasked with managing the process and extraction of data to increase automation across the analytics platform. Some of your key responsibilities may include integrating systems, deploying advanced analytics solutions and integrating technical delivery into the local landscape. Ultimately you will be tasked with evolving the advanced analytics solutions into a high-performing capability both domestically and internationally and be the conduit between data science, business intelligence and IT capabilities.

The results of your work could have vast impacts on an array of metrics across the organisation from customer retention to controlling churn to spotting new business opportunities. The data engineering team are the driving force behind decision making based on data and analytics derived from this team. You will join a truly agile environment working very much to TDD and BDD standards and work on the most cutting edge technology across Hadoop including spark streaming and kafka to perform real-time data processing at scale.

To be successful you will bring your expertise working across Hadoop technologies which can be anything from kafka, spark to hive and impala and understand what it takes to deliver such solutions via cloudera or similar distribution systems. You will help position the business and its technology, delivery systems and infrastructure in a prime position to deliver actionable intelligence back into the business.
