Application Security Engineer – Contract

Berkshire Contract / 3 Months + £450 - £550.00 per annum

We are transforming our platform and have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and talented Web Application Security Engineer to join our rapidly-expanding agile ecommerce team.
As we expand, the security of our services, applications, systems and data becomes even more vital, and we are looking for an experienced and motivated Security Engineer to help us in these efforts. The position requires very strong knowledge security- wide ranging or specialism around some or all of the following: Access and Identity Management, infrastructure Security, Cryptography and PCI.

Job Requirements – Hands-on design and development with a self-organising and cross-functional agile team using techniques such as Test Driven Development (TDD) and Pair Programming – Influence the design and technology stack and technical direction of the team – Technical mentoring (no line management responsibilities) – Champion and coach peers in software engineering best security practices and best of breed technology – Contribute to user story definition, assisting QA leads and business stakeholders with acceptance criteria – Participate in regular showcases of new business capability to the product owners and other business stakeholders – Proactively help to resolve production issues and contribute to release management

Essential experience, skills and qualifications – Knowledge and experience of a wide range of open source and commercial technologies
– Experience of software development for high quality, high capacity, high traffic, high availability websites/systems.
Specifically of interest:
– Good understanding of software vulnerabilities
– Expert in building repeatable and automated security test suites
– Expert in integrating vulnerability scanners into software delivery pipelines
– Good understanding of architectural patterns like REST
– Expert in one programming language, preferably Java
– Knowledge of AWS
– Knowledge and experience of agile frameworks and practices: Scrum/Kanban, User stories, BDD/TDD, DevOps, Continuous Integration & Delivery, Pair Programming etc.
– Experience with Application Lifecycle Management Tools e.g. Jira, Confluence, Jenkins (or similar), NexusPro (or similar), Git etc.
