As the company grows from a small to a medium sized company the CTO role is critical to ensure the company both maintains its focus as it grows while also putting in place the staff, processes and procedures to support a more mature organisation.

As CTO, you will be responsible for the development, QA and technical operations functions across both the London and Sofia locations.

Duties and responsibilities

The main duties of the role are:

  • Leading strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of their products.
  • Putting in place and maintaining processes to allow effective and visible development, QA and technical operations support functions within the company
  • Ensuring the tean can provide reliable, timely and high quality software development & maintenance to its customers;
  • Working with the rest of the executive team to agree company strategy and priorities and communicating these across the business;
  • Define and execute a plan to ensure security, performance, reliability and compliance are appropriately addressed across the business;
  • Recruiting of staff across all technical departments;
  • Setting up and managing a new infrastructure and technical operations group within the company;
  • Ensuring technology standards and best practises are introduced and maintained;
  • Providing performance reviews and professional development support to direct reports;

Qualifications

Preferable degree level. 6 years minimum experience in an SME as CTO, head of development or another senior role.
Experience running technical organisations handling both SaaS-style web based products and traditional shrink-wrapped software.
Experience running an agile development organisation is essential, with Scrum experience highly preferred.
A background in Microsoft technologies such as C# as well as modern web development standards such as HTML 5 would be valuable as well as experience with running systems in the AWS and Azure clouds.
As an international company, you will be required to travel to our Sofia offices.
