Java Performance Developer

This global establishment are looking for a enthusiastic, creative and passionate Java Performance Developer to come onboard and help build a fast, scalable and reliable solution amongst their Engineering Team.

As a Java Performance Developer, you will be inducted into a friendly and very welcoming team in a very modern and trendy office located in London. Primarily your work will span across multiple non-functional disciplines as the team thrives to dig deep in to technology to discover and understand what is happening under the covers, they then differentiate themselves due to the unique technical knowledge that they acquire by doing so.

The most successful Java Performance Developer will be the one who can demonstrate the following:

  • Collaborate with engineers to build performant and reliable software
  • Promote and instil performance and reliability matters throughout the technology group
  • Perform evaluations in the realms of new technologies, hardware, infrastructure and cloud computing
  • Liaise with teams to discover optimal ways to scale application infrastructure for our continually increasing growth
  • Evaluate the performance of and tune Java, NoSQL, Tomcat and other systems
  • Identify and perform root cause analysis of performance, scalability and availability issues, across the entire application stack

JAVA PERFORMANCE DEVELOPER – LONDON – PERM up to £70k

Key requirements:

  • Hands-on experience of engineering Java-based software to make it faster or otherwise more efficient
  • Profiling Java-based components
  • JVM performance and garbage collection tuning
  • Linux OS performance considerations, including use of monitoring tools
  • Optimisation of Web-based service containers like Tomcat
  • Ability to analyse and solve performance issues spanning multiple systems
  • Understanding of layer 7 protocols and network devices
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams

Bonus skills & experience:

  • Cloud computing (AWS preferred)
  • Container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes preferred)
  • Distributed database management systems (Cassandra preferred)
  • Client-side performance factors
