Tech Lead Node.JS software engineer- My client is looking for a Node.JS software engineer for a huge digital transformation working on a platform overhaul for a global e-commerce brand. This is effectively re-writing a global website and over time scaling the new platform out to all sites globally. User traffic is in the 10s of millions. They are looking for candidates who have worked on large scale web deployments who all have in excess of 20-30m unique hits. Their new digital platform is gaining huge traction, since being set up a 6 months ago they now have a new platform live built using highly distributed and scalable micro-service architecture with Node.JS, React, Docker Containers AWS Stack (ECS, SQS), Terraform, Circle CI and infra-as-code environment allowing us to deploy up to 70x times per day. This is not building a UK E-commerce site, this is high velocity, Super-fast, automated deployment using high level architecture, high performance, high traffic transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional development team following continuous delivery and building highly performant code
  • Develop prototypes quickly but deliver production code that can scale.
  • Be involved in a full spectrum of development, including new features and new applications but also tools to support experimentation, localisation and customisation.
  • Develop and implement systems using best practices and tools. Document and communicate them.
  • Be creative and experiment with new solutions but pragmatic and committed to code optimization, maintainability, and quality
  • Work with product owners and designers to prioritise and hone features. Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scale.

Requirements:

  • Experience with some of the common Javascript frameworks and libraries (JQuery, Modernizr, Closure, AngularJS, Polymer, Node.js, RequireJS, React, Browserify).
  • Deep expertise in Javascript and it’s various cross-platform and cross-browser quirks.
  • Knowledge and expertise with React.js and Node.js
  • Development experience in any of the following technologies and opinions on how to use them properly: C#, Java, Scala, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Erlang, F#, etc
  • Experience with relational and non-relational (e.g., MongoDB, CouchDB, Cassandra, etc.) data stores
  • Expert experience in HTML5/CSS and building mobile, responsive/adaptive applications (e.g., Phonegap, Python, Objective-C, etc.)
  • Significant experience writing and utilizing RESTful API services and performance tuning large scale applications
