SQL Server DBA – Digital / Telecommunication Business – Leeds

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + 5% Bonus + Benefits

My client is very much in the Telecoms space and are going through a Digital transformation and are looking to add to their IT team. They are looking for a strong SQL Server DBA who is eager to join a success team and help build something substantial from the ground up.

The Microsoft Senior SQL Server DBA is responsible for Microsoft SQL Server environments that fall under the remit of the Managed Database service. They will be responsible for the analysis of and expedient resolution to faults affecting production devices and the planning of new implementations.

Microsoft SQL Server related technical skills will need to be delivered such that customers are delighted with the level of service provided by the Managed Database team.

  • Service Operation: Complex incident & problem management, including root cause analysis.
  • Service Transition: Complex changes, configuration management, release management, & lifecycle management.
  • Take ownership of Microsoft SQL Server tickets and help to manage relevant cases in the ticketing system to ensure all issues have a clear owner.
  • Actively contribute to process improvements to the benefit of both Customers and Vodafone.
  • Assist in the design, implementation and project handover phases for new and existing customers.
  • Participate in a revolving out of hour’s on-call rota for support of Managed Database environments.

Skills: SQL Server DBA – Digital / Telecommunication Business – Leeds

Essentials:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Certification Level: MCITP Database
  • Administrator 2008 or MCSE Data Platfor

Desired:

Recent proven experience administering large SQL server estates at Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 /2012 within a web hosting or IT services environment.

  • Experience of working with SAN technologies, including SAN replication.
  • Oracle Database Administration
  • MySQL experience
  • Windows 2008/2012/2012R2
  • Redhat Linux 5.x/6.x
  • Veritas Netbackup software
  • BMC Patrol
  • PowerShell scripting
  • VMware 3.5 and above
