Technical Support Specialist – Cambridge – up to £45,000


Reporting to the Manager, Merchant Services, the Technical Support Specialist’s role is to provide technical support to clients on the Company’s’ propriety software solutions, products, and systems. While closely interacting with several internal departments and end users in the UK as well as in North America, he or she will be assisting clients with payment system integration projects and training them on payment system functionalities.

  • Troubleshooting technical issues related to the applications and systems and making necessary technical changes when needed.
  • Proving excellent customer service for technical inquires affecting merchant via telephone and email.
  • Executing programming and testing to meet customer integration requirements
  • Collaborating with the Montreal-based technical support team and various internal departments to resolve customer inquires, and identifying, investigating and escalating system issues as required.
  • Producing technical specifications and documentation based on client requirements/integration Questionnaire.
  • Configuring payment systems to enable clients’ websites to take credit card payments and alternative payment methods.
  • Being involved in small-scale development work where appropriate to enable new shopping cart to link into the system.
  • Processing merchant account transfers and other various technical changes.

Core technical skills:

  • Good understanding and hands on experience with major Internet protocols and languages: HTTP, HTML, Java, Web Services, CSS, XML, .NET, C#.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to author ad-hoc database queries.
  • Working Knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems.

Education and Qualifications:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Programming, or equivalent education.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a customer service and technical software support role.

Required Skills:

  • Enthusiastic and have proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good communicator, well organized and methodical.
  • Responsible and solid team player with the ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative.
  • Detail-oriented and have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Wishing to develop new skills and be prepared to undertake all required training.
  • Experience in a banking, financial services or credit card processing environment is a definite asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French is also an asset.
