COMPANY BACKGROUND

My Client is an ambitious and acquisitive media group with multiple offices in UK and 300 staff. They have has successfully purchased and integrated 20 businesses (mostly small) over ten years.

PURPOSE OF ROLE – The Programme Director/CTO is a new role that would………..

  • Drive forward new projects and ensure they were delivered on time/on budget;
  • Overseeing specification (in house or external) – ensuring commercially as well as business and technical requirements
  • Liaising and negotiating with outsourced partners/software providers;
  • Co-ordinating between content, digital marketing, operations, IT, commercial and web development teams to ensure new products are well specified.
  • This role is therefore more than just “web” focused, involving also IT, CRM and accounting systems. Plus, critically, internal and external liaison.
  • The role would report to CEO.

Direct reports – possibly a new role of data analyst would report in (when recruited); one tech team of 6 led by a manager; central web development team and digital marketing would be internal suppliers.

TECH ENVIRONMENT

  • In house tech stack currently – WordPress, PHP, LAMP, JavaScript, agile approach. Legacy CRM system. Exchequer accounts.
  • Web Development team is 10 people, digital marketing team 7. We may bring in a 6-person development team to accelerate some development. We may have another tech team of 6.

PROJECTS – Specific projects currently envisaged in the next 2 years:

  • Rolling out a new CRM/sales booking system across group
  • Migrating multiple brands to the companies Common WordPress Platform
  • Enhancing the MCWP for (1) user tracking on own system (replace in some cases Omniture or google canvass) – allocating personas, ad targeting, ensuring subscribers including corporate subscribers active (2) access control (3) build events module (4) reporting / visualisation for sales (5) and for editorial.

This is a perm role based in south London
