Data Analytics & Insights Jobs

Businesses’ relationships with their customers are becoming increasingly data-driven and, as a result, there is a growing need for data analyst jobs to process this information and use these insights to shape future marketing campaigns. Our Asian network of specialist marketing insight recruiters can help find your perfect role.

What is Marketing Analytics & Insights?

Data analytics careers require the use of information gained from a company’s existing CRM systems, such as how their customers interact with them. Marketing insight is the analysis and usage of this data and information to create new strategies which benefit a business in the long term, particularly with regards to improving customer experience.

Opportunities for Data Professionals

Opportunities for data-related roles are likely to grow as more companies utilize data for their products and services. Emerging fields like the Internet of Things, which allow businesses to work with data in new ways, are also likely to offer Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Data Analysts more opportunities.

Recent changes in the Data sector

The biggest recent change in the data sector is its rapid expansion. Data is becoming huge and businesses across most industries are hiring Data Engineers and Scientists to help them make better business decisions and forecast future performance.

Future Prospects

Both McKinsey and Gartner have made huge claims about the number of big data jobs that will be available and unfilled in the coming years. In 2012, Gartner predicted that there will be more than 4.4 million big data jobs by 2015 and only about one-third of those jobs will be filled. With greater desire from businesses to take on big data projects in the future, there is a huge opportunity for growth.

  • Salt's advice for securing a Data job

    Employers’ Requirements

Employers looking to fill data roles will prefer candidates who have previously worked with statistics, analytics and applied mathematics. Naturally, experience working in Data Science, Engineering or Analytics is also a big plus, as is having a good knowledge of machine learning capability and associated algorithms.

    CV Requirements

Your CV should include relevant work experience, along with technical skills like SQL and Python capabilities. The industry-specific experience will also help in securing specific roles.

    Job Interview Preparation

During your interview, you should be prepared to talk about the relevant qualifications you have undertaken. Questions may vary by industry but expect to discuss what you have learned from your previous jobs, and how you would bring that knowledge to the table.

    Educational Requirements

Data job applicants will ideally have studied statistics or mathematics academically. Candidates with PhD qualifications are preferred for high-level Data Engineering roles.

Top Tip

"Discuss your journey into the computational side and how you have picked up engineering capabilities or understanding."
