What are Client Services?

Those working in client services roles are responsible for the daily handling and managing of a business’s clients. This requires collaborating with them on developing working strategies and planning campaigns. On an internal level, a Client Services Executive will also supervise the internal team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality campaigns for clients, within the set budget.

The client services industry remains rife with opportunity due to the constant movement of clients across different positions. These roles are primarily placed in agencies, but candidates are able to move into in-house positions once they have gained sufficient experience and training.

    The most desirable candidates for roles in client services should be able to display a solid knowledge of the digital landscape. They must also demonstrate good communication skills and fluency in both Chinese and English.

    CV requirements

    CVs for client service roles should show a candidate’s previous experience in project and campaign management, as well as their history in direct client-facing roles. They should also be able to demonstrate their language skills and computer literacy, particularly in MS Office and other analytical software. Soft skills required for roles in client and account services include an outgoing demeanour, cheerful and sociable disposition, and an energetic nature.

    Interview preparation

    Candidates should have a good understanding of the role for which they are applying, as well as conducting thorough research into the company itself. Interviews for client services roles are generally quite relaxed and require the candidate to be able to demonstrate their experience in handling similar work, alongside their language and project management skills.

Further industry qualifications will also be highly beneficial for candidates. However, senior roles will also need to be able to demonstrate experience alongside their educational certification.
