Payments careers offer considerable opportunity for growth, especially within the merchant acquisition and partnership sides of the payments sector. Junior candidates will have the chance to get involved in acquisitions from an early stage, putting them in great standing for future promotion.
Payments careers have evolved alongside the rising incorporation of technology, and many people entering the sector in the last few years have done so from the digital side of the financial service industry. As such, a background in this area of the sector will give candidates the best chance at finding a job in payments.
The sector offers a lot of room for growth, as payments teams continue to push companies towards improved financial solutions. In particular, the Malaysian government is aiming to transition away from using physical money, becoming a cashless society. As such, fin-tech companies are lobbying for improved infrastructures, solutions, and incentives.
Candidates for payments jobs need a solid understanding of the digital financial landscape and should know how payments systems work. They should also be able to display knowledge of how the market is segmented and have an understanding of the value of a cashless society.
Your CV should be able to demonstrate a strong track record of sales, alongside all relevant information regarding employment history. You should also hold both academic and industry qualifications.

However, the most important thing for candidates to show is their charisma and people skills, which are crucial qualities for anyone looking to work within this sector.
