This role will be focused on the Hardware business unit with the objective of strengthening local communities one postcode at a time. The purpose of this position is to plan and execute best in class communications, events and change programs, ensuring understanding, alignment, and clarity of strategy between key stakeholders. Ensure that our messages connect throughout the business and externally, and that there is alignment between high level strategy and day to day. To lead the business transformation of our intranet as the primary B2B communication platform in our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the framework to ensure effective and engaging communications to their internal and external stakeholders and in doing so support the executive to drive strategy and cultural alignment in our business. Ensure all communications reflect the strategic plan and our cultural tone
The framework to include leader communications, mass communication channels such as town halls, business updates, events that bring together their stakeholders and develop appropriate scripts, videos, presentations to support these
Deliver best in class communications via the intranet portal and champion this platform to fulfil the role of a key communication channel to our members and suppliers, elevating its usage and managing the user experience through education and continual improvement
Act as communication lead for media relations, assisting in conjunction with the Executive, and relationships with Industry bodies and associations. In conjunction with their agency and the brand team, identify PR opportunities such as causal marketing or challenger brand initiatives to drive their message further
Oversee the delivery of a profitable and successful Independent Hardware Group National conference and expo as a member of the Expo leadership team. Ensure key cultural, strategic and commercial objectives are achieved.
Knowledge & Experience:
5+ years of corporate communications and public relations experience
Certificate or higher-level qualification in relevant field (e.g. communications, journalism)
Advanced user of Microsoft suite, survey and edm platforms
Excellent writing skills
Experience managing large events
Experience with Magento an advantage
Confident escalating issues to Executive or Board level
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in a similar role
Strategic planning
Experience leading a team; inspiring, guiding and encouraging others
Experience sharing and selling the strategic direction
Experience within a large complex organisation with multiple stakeholder considerations
Experience networking and building and maintaining relationships with diverse groups and stakeholders both internally and externally
