Leading NSW Government Opportunity

Exclusive opportunity to work as a Senior Database Developer in one of the leading NSW Government departments. As a Senior Database Developer, you will be responsible for existing database support, scripts and programs analysis, and SQL scripting. You will work with Oracle and MySql databases for Systems of Engagement across different divisions within the Department.

The government department is responsible for developing and maintaining applications necessary for the administration to improve the experience for all involved. You’ll practice in agile, lean, user-centred, cloud, and continuous delivery approaches to produce high-quality digital services.

3-month contract with the possibility of extension

$650 – $848 + Super per day

8 hours per day 40 hours per week

Who are you?

You are passionate about working on different databases, design, development, and implementation of scalable Cloud-based database solutions. You are keen on the development of high-quality services for the Department.

Key responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the enhancement, maintenance, and support of existing databases, implementing best practices in data management techniques. You will be responsible for writing data migration and masking scripts to provide data from production to non-production environments. You will also support stakeholders across the department relating to data engineering activities. Skills and Experience:

* Expertise and experience in design, development, and implementation of scalable Cloud- based database solutions (Preferably on AWS).

* Demonstrate proficiency in the design, installation, deployment, and support of complex database environments.

* Provide database solutions based on business requirements.

* Experience in analysing existing database scripts and programs, performance tuning and optimisation of queries.

* Review project-based SQL solutions and advise of risk and impact.

* Proficiency in PL/SQL Integrated Development skills, writing stored procedures, views, packages, functions, database triggers, complex SQL statements using joins and sub queries.

* Proficiency in PL/SQL Integrated Development skills, writing stored procedures, views, packages, functions, database triggers, complex SQL statements using joins and sub queries.

* Monitor database performance, implement changes, apply new patches, installation, configurations, and upgrade versions as required.

* Perform database maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.

* Perform SQL code reviews and walkthroughs, assess existing database implementations, recommend changes, and execute on recommendations.

* Extensive experience, in Oracle 11g, MySql databases, data management tools and software.

* Highly motivated to accept technical challenges and deliver customer focused solutions

* Knowledge on AWS, understanding of security principles and AWS best practices

The role will report to the Manager, Digital Portfolio Systems and Delivery.

Qualifications:

* Formal certifications on Oracle 11g or later and training relevant to the role highly regarded

* Formal IT qualifications highly regarded.
