Lead Network Engineer

The Role:

Salt Australia has partnered with a global leader in IT and Software looking for a seasoned network engineer to join their Sydney team on a 12-month contract.

As a member of of the cloud networking team, your mission will be being responsible for maintaining network stability and ensuring that our clients customers stay connected with their suite of applications, products and services. You will also be responsible for managing and operating the global network infrastructure that is the foundation of all their services.

Key accountabilities will include:

• Take a lead role in the engagement and mitigation of outage causing events or issues.
• Corroborate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in systems
• Perform non-critical investigations into functionality that is not working as desired
• Engage deeply in the ascertainment function to proactively analyse network parameters such as capacity and availability
• Partner with the SRE team to provide mentor-ship and input on operational process improvements.
• Maintain automation’s to ensure devices are configured and operating within operational standards
• Build internal tools to assist with operating the network infrastructure at scale
• Provide feedback to infrastructure architects on design issues or improvements
• Partner with project and program managers to meet overall time-lines and resolution of issues

Required Skills & Experience:

• Expert knowledge and understanding with network technologies such as: 802.1q, HSRP/VRRP, MCLAG, exc.
• Expertise and commercial experience TCP/IP and routing protocols
• Expert level of understanding with CiscoIOS and JunOS operating systems
• Advanced experience and understanding with Network Automation languages
• Knowledge and experience with F5 and Cisco ASA
• Cumulus Linux knowledge and experience are a plus!
• Strong level of business acumen & able to present to c-level executives
• Expertise in strategic thinking and overall strategy development.
• Passion for customer experiences and focus on delivering high quality user experience
