Digital Transformation

Opportunity to provide solutions and support the functional and technical aspect of a set of integrated processes and events.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Digital Transformation, you will be responsible for building, maintaining and upgrading the core platform and connected endpoints to deliver efficient services.

The team is currently improving their loyalty scheme linked to all participating stores, with instant rewards tailored to meet the individual based on customer interaction at POS in-store and in email, social and other marketing channels.

Currently, they are running this on a standard CMS base, with more custom functionality being handled by some extra PHP code in the CMS itself, as well as bespoke APIs and Lambdas via AWS. Identity and Authorisation is being provided by Auth0, and there are also essential tasks being provided by Google Cloud and other cloud-based services.

They are now halfway through migrating to a more “JAMStack” (so that’s a serverless Javascript , API and static Markup) environment with some the same custom API code based in AWS/Google Cloud; as well as integrating an internal and external PIM (Product Information Management) providing the data to build the content in the site on the fly for each customer. They are also going to be employing a GraphQL wrapper to this data very soon, to make retrieval of this data as streamlined and painless as possible.

Additional Notes:

Although this is the main role, we are also looking for someone who can help the upkeep the other parts of the site if needs be, so any related knowledge and/or experience of similar technologies would be an advantage for the team.

This is all set to go live early 2020, so availability is also a prime factor.

We need somebody, therefore, who is proficient in most of what’s described above, and is willing to sometimes think and act outside of their comfort zone, getting their hands dirty with some problem solving when required.

The successful candidate will have :

• Strong PHP skills 5+ years, preferably with experience of using frameworks/bundlers such as Symfony, Laravel, CodeIgniter, Composer etc.
• A demonstrable understanding of consuming data and organising it for exposure via a RESTful API
• Proven use of Cloud/Containers such as AWS/Google/Docker to provide the APIs securely and quickly, especially experience using AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda and CloudFormation. Firebase and other Google technologies a plus too.

• Thorough knowledge of Javascript/JSON and comfortable working in ES6 – usage of React/Redux a big plus, although not mandatory
• A sound familiarity with GraphQL
• Good knowledge of HTML5 and CSS 3
• Great problem solving and debugging skills
• Good communication and collaboration within a small team of like-minded folks, but also able to think for themselves, argue a point across if needs be and work toward a collective goal without
• Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code

Although not absolutely necessary, candidates possessing these skills or knowledge of the following technologies/languages too will likely be more successful:
