The ScienceLogic SME will combine expert network engineering capabilities with solid technology knowledge and apply these to the designing, building, integrating, maintaining, and supporting of complex technology platforms both in domestic and global environments.
This role is key to delivering:
The design, management and support of a ScienceLogic application running on an internal cloud environment.
The retirement of legacy tool sets used by assurance teams
Role Responsibilities:
Build, deploy (using Ansible Tower) and maintain ScienceLogic servers
Provide advice on ScienceLogic development and architecture best practices.
Proactively review capacity across the ScienceLogic platform
Develop monitoring and capacity dashboards for the ScienceLogic platform including the development of Dynamic Applications, Content Libraries and Run Book Automations.
Proactively automating tasks that add value to the business
Troubleshooting ScienceLogic platform issues, including working with ScienceLogic Support (where required) to determine a solution and provide remediation until the solution is delivered
Conduct functional testing, deployment of technology and resolution of complex escalated faults
Document designs and activities to support the transition of skills relating to deployment and release processes to operations staff to build internal capability
Identify and promote best practices in Knowledge Management and Innovation.
Key skills required:
Typically, a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in an Operational and/or Engineering role and have expertise with a variety of deployment, automation and configuration management tools.
Extensive experience with the ScienceLogic platform – certification is an advantage but not essential.
Understanding of core Routing and Switching technology and critical Security principles and good practice.
Strong system administration and platform/network integration skills. These include load-balanced, virtualised and bare-metal server infrastructures
Proven scripting or programming experience that conforms to good software engineering design principles and practices (including version management)
Practical experience with automated server deployment, testing and management are highly desirable. Python, Ansible, Ansible Tower
Practical experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines. Enhancing and improving CI/CD capabilities to reduce cycle time while retaining quality
