Our client currently has an opportunity to join their Technical Team as a Senior Network Operations Engineer. This role would see the successful candidate utilising their communication and technical skills with expert knowledge of Juniper BGP – OSPF – IPSEC. You would be an imperative part of the team and must have proven experience working in a similar environment or similar role.
General Responsibilities:
Administer, install, secure, maintain, and support local and wide area networking, communications, and related software/hardware within a multi-platform operating environment
Work with users to evaluate hardware and software network needs and requirements and make recommendations
Coordinate technical installation of hardware requirements
Install application software programs on the LAN
Maintain, creates/delete user accounts, maintain and update system security plans on platforms
Help to develop uniform operating procedures for administering and sustaining network environments
Enforce applicable security procedures
Provide software and hardware familiarization and mentorship to users and team members
Remain current on technological developments and applications, evaluate vendor products to make recommendations for purchase
Recommend systems, systems security, network, and network security policies
Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects
Provide solutions to a variety of complex technical problem.
Manage network communications engineering, testing, installation, and support, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems
Create and implement router and switch configurations
Identify and diagnose problems affecting network performance using software and hardware tools
Provide recommendations to enhance and improve network performance and security
Provide quality assurance review and evaluation of new and existing networking product
Knowledge and Experience
7+ years of relevant experience including design, deployment, and support for large scale, secured networks
Deep, hands-on experience with TCP/IP (common packet headers, protocol innerworkings) and routing protocols (BGP, ISIS and OSPF)
Solid knowledge and familiarity with Juniper’s JunOS.
Ability to identify, create, and deliver standards and best practice solutions
Extensive knowledge of three or more network operating systems/platforms including Junos, IOS/NX-OS, EOS, PANOS, IPSO, or F5 LTM/GTM
Knowledge of Checkpoint FW-1, Palo Alto or similar state-full packet inspection firewalls
Experience administering CDN and DDOS products; Cloudflare, Akamai, Arbor, Imperva, or similar
Knowledge of Juniper MX/EX/QFX and Arista platforms
Expert TCP/IP, OSPF, and BGP routing skills
Expert in packet capture decode and analysis
Extensive knowledge of multicast design and troubleshooting including IGMP and PIM protocols
Deep understanding of NAT, route maps/ACLs, routing policies, and IPSEC VPN
Experience coding with any combination of Perl, Ruby, Bash, Python, XML, JSON
Experience with automation/configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
Ability to multitask and work independently on multiple projects
Ability to differentiate between a critical business impacting incident and a minor problem and resolve/escalate accordingly
B.S. in CS/IT or equivalent relative experience
Must be available to start work immediately
