My client is looking for a Digital Accessibility Designer, where you will lead the design of inclusive software, ensuring accessibility and universal design principles are built into the products, from concept through to implementation.
The role:
- Participate across the clients design process – Discovery, Research, Concept, Design, Test and Measure, ensuring accessibility centric designs are implemented catering to a diverse range of vulnerable customer needs
- Support your colleagues to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to create online products that meet level AA of WCAG as a minimum
- Participate in early design reviews and providing guidance on Accessibility
- Create Accessibility specifications for the Mobile App and the online Brochureware, which are consumed by the engineering team. accessible using key board only commands
- Help connect Product and Content Designers as well as Engineers, so that the whole team works together to find solutions to create the best digital experience to all.
- Support with running drop-in sessions and training delivering quality feedback on the remediation of all guideline breaches and overall accessibility of the digital product
- Collaborate with Researchers to ensure that we include disabled participants in the research sessions
- Advocate for Digital Accessibility, helping drive cultural shifts in ensuring Accessibility is considered at every part of the design & delivery process
- Accountable for upskilling and training colleagues on accessibility standards
You need to have:
- Ability to conduct accessibility audits against WCAG 2.1 guidelines
- Experience with digital accessibility tech, design solutions, and policy
- Experience working on multidisciplinary teams using agile methodologies
- Understanding of WCAG 2.1 AAA guidelines and ARIA techniques
- Experience (and appetite to learn) using and testing with assistive technologies (incl VoiceOver, Browser extensions, JAWS and NVDA)
- Experience of creating technical and business documentation relating to accessibility and digital inclusion
- Experience of working at a code level and/or with developers to address issues in CSS/HTML
- Experience in supporting teams to develop roadmaps to address accessibility issues
- A portfolio of inclusive research and design practice, covering different platforms and services
- Self motivated and enthusiastic
Please note: this is a fully remote role, but you will be required to attend the head office in London twice a month.
