Product Designer

Background

My Client are an exciting new, Google Residency start-up, working at the meeting point of sustainability and fintech. They have recently expanded to the UK after starting in New Zealand several years ago. Their Mobile app enables users to ensure purchases of goods can be made from ethical and sustainable businesses and assists in the process of connecting users to relevant local businesses to aid this function. They have an MVP in the UK market and are now working towards the next major version to expand on their service. The next version will be heavily based on behavioural psychology principles and open banking data. This has facilitated a need for the candidate to able to collaborate on the conceptual development of the product and to lead the market validation activities (prototyping, user testing etc) to help bring it to market successfully.

Role

You should be well-versed in lean UX practices for start-ups, including

• Experience creating rapid low-fi prototypes for value proposition testing
• Experience creating semi-fi prototypes for UX validation of new product features
• Able and interested in exploring quantitative data in Amplitude, as well as anecdotal/qualitative data from interviews and feedback forms to troubleshoot UX problems and solve them
• Able and interested in working with data in Amplitude to identify ways we can use data to enable our proposition
• Experience leading Google Ventures style Design Sprints or similar design exploration and validation activities
• Experience leading user testing with individuals and small groups of 3-5 people, including the definition of a clear set of hypotheses that we are trying to validate.
• Experience applying the Hook Model (Nir Eyal) – preferable but not required
• Experience applying Game Thinking (Amy Jo Kim) – preferable but not required
• Experience applying jobs to be done methodology (Anthony Ulwick) – preferable but not required

Ideally you can also produce UI to a high standard, but this is not required.

Employment basis:

This role will be on a contract basis to begin with (day rate), with the expectation of a full-time role in 2-3 months.

Minimum availability 3 days/week, but preferably 4.

You will work directly with the Chief Product Officer.

The team are a close-knit bunch of 10 and growing. Some team members, New Zealand, and the rest are based in the Shoreditch London Area.
