What it’s like to work here:

As our first full time hire in the UX team you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape the future direction of the product and approach to UX and research.

You’ll work closely with the founders and product team alongside product designers and developers in a fast-moving agile team. You will be responsible for leading and managing all UX activities on current products and exciting new projects and experiences.

What does the role involve?

The UX Director role is responsible for building and managing the execution and capability of the Experience Design team. You’ll enjoy having a hands-on focus while you grow a small team around you and play the role of UX evangelist across the organisation.

  • Own the entire design process from idea to implementation including research, UX design, UI design, competitor audits and benchmarking, user testing etc. Lead workshops and design sprints to explore solutions and capture requirements
  • Craft concepts and sketches and rapidly prototype ideas
  • Design simple, effective and delightful UX flows and UI interfaces, backed by data to meet business goals
  • Produce high-fidelity UI and detailed UX specs to clearly communicate requirements to the engineering team
  • Present design work to the product team and business for review and feedback
  • Plan, organise and conduct UX research and usability testing

What experience will you have?

  • Proven track record in leading UX design projects in a fast-paced and successful online business with a high volume of users
  • Excellent communicator – able to clearly present your work, explain your thinking and discuss design decisions confidently at all levels
  • Experience in facilitating design and discovery workshops and leading design sprints
  • Fluent use of visual design tools such as Sketch and Photoshop and prototyping tools like Balsamiq and InVision
  • Experience of designing for responsive web and native mobile platforms (iOS and Android)
  • Previously organised and conducted UX research and user testing
  • Confident in using data (qualitative and quantitative) and insights to inform designs
  • Driven, ambitious and keen to grow with the company
