Are you a Senior level UI/UX Designer with a particular love of UI?

Do you want to work with fascinating users for a company who are helping advance science and solve real-world problems?

Do you want to be an integral part of an innovative design culture working on all aspects of the UCD process to help scale and improve a company that have already grown exponentially over the past 3 years?

We are looking for talented UI/UX Designers to join a team who champion best UCD and product development practices.

This role would be perfect for someone with a UI background who has begun to move into UX and wants to consolidate and broaden their skillset.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead all design work on one of the major products areas.
  • Work in an agile team with product owners, developers, and BAs to design, deliver to production, and optimise products that meet the needs of the science research community. This will cover all areas of designs.
  • Support the design team in developing a new design system by creating shared UI patterns that work across all our products
  • Champion users throughout the design process. Use a variety of methods to carry out user research and develop a deep understanding of user needs. Validate all design work through ongoing interviews and usability tests. Build empathy for users across the organisation.
  • In all your work, use the full range of design methods to deliver the best possible experiences for our users. In addition to those listed above, this may include scamping, wireframing, running workshops, sharing user insights with wider stakeholders, collaborating with other designers, and many other things.
  • Proactively improve how the design team works by exploring new tools and methods.
  • Mentor and coach other designers as needed.

Experience and Key Skills:

  • At least five years design experience with significant working experience in a wide range of design methods and processes.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating experience of creating products and services that meet user needs, product requirements, and business goals.
  • Experience of working with design systems and pattern libraries
  • Some experience of user research or usability testing. You should be the user advocate to business and technology stakeholders throughout the organisation.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with product owners, business analysts and developers.
  • The capability to rationalise your design solutions for product owners, developers, and other designers
  • Experience of working in a large organisation with different products, teams and stakeholders would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Sketch, InVision, Principle, or similar prototyping tools.
  • Prior experience of working with academics or researchers would be a bonus!
