Senior Visual Designer – eCommerce / Retail – Up to £70k +Bonus

My client are a leading retail/eCommerce organisation, a brand you will most certainly know! – They are currently going through a huge period of organic growth and have opened their doors for a Senior Visual Designer to join their ranks! – You will be involved in everything from conceptualizing visual design directions and guiding Web & Mobile App project teams through the ideas – then carrying that approach through to development. You will design to energise the experience ensuring it is engaging and compelling for users.

You will have extensive experience in both responsive web and mobile apps. You understand that an interface is the convergence of functionality, content, context, interaction, technology and brand. Your eye for detail is guided by your understanding of the bigger picture.

You are an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who puts our customers first.

Someone who can extend my client’s brand into the digital environment – from in-store kiosks, phone & tablet apps (Android and iOS) to our responsive web presence. You will across multiple product teams, working closely with the UX architect, conceptualizing and guiding stakeholders through ideas – then carrying that approach through the development of the product to energise the experience ensuring it is engaging and compelling for users. If you have experience in retail – that’s a bonus.

Key accountabilities and measures

• Work tightly with the Web & App Team members to understand the vision for the experience and how to use the design to lift and define the overall user engagement.
• Delivery and presentation of relevant project deliverables as required by the projects (such as creative briefs, concepts, digital assets, style guides, pattern libraries, CSS etc.)
• Collaborate with team members to ensure that the integrity of the experience is maintained through launch.
• Adhere to established design guides and pattern libraries to ensure a consistent look and feel across all channels.
• Work with other agile streams to ensure patterns are reused and evolved when necessary.
• Create/Update/maintain pattern library as required.
• Work with the UX Architects to develop early prototypes to test early ideas with customers.
• Support agile teams by delivering creative solutions to drive the brand and digital experience.
• Work with Brand, Marketing and Publication to interpret the branding guidelines into appropriate digital assets and furniture.
• Ensure designs align to brand guidelines.
• Maintain a continuous view of the digital landscape by staying abreast of trends & changes in the industry.
• Receptive to feedback, creative criticisms and praise – Have the ability to rationalise and articulate creative concepts.
• Involved in presenting designs to the UX team, project teams and stakeholders.

Key skills

• Strong conceptual thinking and a deep understanding of brand.
• A solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation
• Experienced in native app design.
• Experienced Responsive Web & Mobile Apps visual designer with a strong portfolio to demonstrate range and depth.
• Love the challenge of re-visualizing content and using design to make online shopping enjoyable
• Experienced with both iOS and Android
• Familiar with working in Agile environments/teams
• Desire to produce the best visual experiences in the industry, regardless of complexity or channel
• Successful portfolio that demonstrates your ability in creating first class designs
• Engaging presentation style
• An appreciation of all other UX roles and their contribution to the final product.
• Experience in designing graphical templates, CSS development, optimising graphics and streaming media
• Technical skills should include strong Sketch & Adobe Creative Suite skills plus prototyping tolls such as Principle, Flinto & Keynote.
• Strong knowledge of responsive design methods, scalable designs and UI frameworks.
• Working knowledge/understanding of front end code.
• Design Tools/software – including Sketch – to create hi-fi mock-ups and prototypes
• Interaction Design techniques to enable usable interfaces and the reuse of modules, components and elements (atomic design)
• Creation, maintenance and governance of a Pattern Library to ensure consistent reuse of design elements
• Concept design & development for new business ideas and/or to demonstrate alternative approaches
• Application of Brand guidelines and working with brand to understand photography
• Clean, simple design to ensure a usable design that is intuitive and engaging
