The Role:

We’re looking for someone to take responsibility for the user experience of our existing products, in this hybrid, midweight UX and UI role. You’ll be working alongside a Content Designer to make small improvements and add new features to the pension platform, making sure they’re in line with the design principles and meet the UI design system.

The role

This role in particular will be initially focused on the US market and we’re ideally looking for someone with experience in Pensions or Finance.

As a User Interface designer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring applications are clear, easy to use and on-brand. You’ll use and extend UI design system, working collaboratively with UX Leads and copywriters to create compelling user journeys.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide UI design services on substantial web projects.
  • Work with and extend UI design system.
  • Work collaboratively with other UX leads, Copywriters, Product Owners, UI designers and various other kinds of business stakeholder.
  • Balance user needs against business objectives and constraints to create effective user interfaces.
  • Take input from whiteboard sketches and wireframes to create page mock-ups in Figma or similar.
  • Create click-through prototypes, taking on-board feedback from the business or from user research, and iterating designs.
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards.

Requirements

We know how challenging it can be to tick every box.

There is some flexibility in these requirements – we understand if you’re exceptional in one area, but you’re not so strong in others. You also don’t need to have experience in the finance or pension industry to work with us, but it is important that you’ve worked on some projects that have reasonably complex transactional user interfaces:

  • Relevant degree and / or equivalent industry experience.
  • Work experience from within a fast paced, scaling technology company.
  • Experience in the US market, preferably in Finance or Pensions.
  • Using Figma and its more advanced features such as nested components and resizing constraints. (experience with other technologies considered)

You’re expected to have a baseline level of knowledge of the items in the list below so you can have constructive conversations with your colleagues in those roles. We consider it a “nice to have” if you have hands-on experience in any of the following:

  • Modern front end development
  • Qualitative User Research (e.g. usability testing)
  • User Experience Design (e.g. running workshops, creating wireframes, storyboards, process flows, etc)
  • Copywriting for the web
