UX & Design Ops Manager – (Hands On Role) – Up to £75k + Bonus!

An exciting opportunity has become available for a UX & Design Ops Manager to join a friendly, inspiring and collaborative environment with a leading & award-winning team. This is a newly created role within the business and is in its infancy within the design industry. Reporting to the Global Digital Experience Director, you will sit alongside 4 other UX & Design Ops Managers which form the design leadership team for the entire company. My client proudly believe in user needs above all else. The team focuses on what UX is supposed to be about: Gaining evidence around validated user needs and iterating/incrementing a product in the pursuit of customer value and related business value.

A leader who is well versed in the world of DesignOps and can demonstrate success in these relevant areas including design systems, service manuals, efficiencies, driving a design led approach for teams and employing learning methodologies at scale.

• You know the difference between people and resources and why that difference is important.
• You have an uncanny ability to craft collaborative spaces and relationships for people to succeed in.
• You have the relevant commercial experience and proven experience of linking user needs with business goals.
• You can demonstrate throughout your portfolio the business impact and user behavioural impact from your work.
• You are an experienced user researcher, have analysed data and validated the problem before creating a solution, then validated the solution.
• You can complete the UI Visual Design (using Sketch/PS etc..) to full quality delivery standards using a base pattern library.
• You are capable of running usability lab sessions using a behavioural science approach to testing your products.
• You are used to working in agile environments and enjoy the benefits of working in this way.
• You not only understand accessibility, but believe an inclusive design approach and treating other humans correctly.
• You are keen to learn, evolve, and continually challenge yourself and the way you do things.
• You want to be part of a fun fast paced team that are constantly improving and continually “getting less wrong” together.

As a UX & DesignOps Manager your core role will be intentionally building, scaling design and re-defying what is UX within the company, helping the organisation to become truly design-led and user centric. The role is designed to operationalise what we create and how we create it. The role looks at attaining efficiency, consistency and quality in four core areas of DesignOps: People, Design Toolkit, Collaboration and Design Value.

You will lead a team of highly talented “UX Unicorns” and also focus on how they work. This is still a hands-on role at an operation and function level (templates, service manuals, design systems, recruitment briefs, conducting workshops etc… are examples of what you will be doing).

This role is no small task; you will be exploring, introducing and challenging how a design-led company should operate. This is a real gem of a role and a superb opportunity for a ‘square-shaped’ person to an already impressive and cutting-edge square-shaped team.
