Analytics Manager – Business Intelligence & Data Visualisation
Start-up opportunity within Global Multibillion Dollar Business!
Salary: £70k – £90k plus bonus
Location: Leeds / Hybrid
🎓 Imagine if you could play an integral part of revolutionising the way a global organisation leverages data
🚀 Start-up environment, first formal centralised Analytics role, with strong future opportunity for growth
🌱 Own reporting and insights for multiple business units, and external clients; innovate and drive change and improvement – ENTREPRENEURIAL types wanted!
The Opportunity
The best of both worlds – join this industry leader in the world of paper manufacturing and supply, to establish their first Analytics function.
Now on the face of it….paper? Perhaps not the sexiest of industries you might think, BUT, manufacturing (of anything!), supply chain and logistics are some of the key industries where we expect there to be massive growth and investment over the next 5 years from a data perspective.
Machine Learning and AI are becoming an integral part of our everyday lives, and businesses that rely on efficient supply chain and logistics are turning to data science and analytics to optimise these processes.
This company is at the very start of its data journey, so you’ll need to be both hands-on with reporting, analysis and data visualisation and well as setting the vision for the what the future set up looks like. You will be bridging the gap between where they are now and where they hope to be in the near future, which is a company that is able to apply advanced analytics and data science internally to predict more accurately.
Therefore you will also need to demonstrate strong strategic thinking, and evidence previous experience in defining and embedding processes and capabilities round reporting and insights, as well as a desire to take on this exciting challenge.
You’ll have the freedom and authority to shape and define reporting frameworks for multiple business units across finance, sales, marketing and operations, including supply chain and logistics.
Naturally, you will also play an important part in educating your colleagues to the value of data in decision making, bringing them on the journey of change and improvement – so you’ll need to have excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to engage with and influence people.
The Data Opportunity
…Is huge.
You will work with massive amounts of data for both internal and external purposes. This includes data for client reporting, strategic purchase planning (mills, locations, logistics etc.), financial reporting, logistics and supply chain, as well as lots of one off projects across the business – helping to answer broad business questions and solve challenges for varying stakeholders.
Externally, there is a need to support clients with information around their purchasing and logistics, inventory, stock levels, delivery and forecasting sales and orders. These clients include 1000’s of businesses with paper needs and the publishing industry giants who produce magazines, direct mail and catalogues.
The raw data generated internally will be messy and holey, so will require an experienced Analyst with the confidence to assess ‘what’s possible’, in turn managing expectations around where the data can currently add value or may need to be re-worked.
The Leadership
You will report into an impressive female leader, in their Operations Director, who has an incredible background in running global operations at scale. She’s also super friendly, passionate and excited about the establishment of this role and, I believe, a big selling point of this opportunity.
Whilst we need someone who can come in a take ownership and responsibility for this remit, you will have the support of one of the most senior people in the UK.
