London / wfh

In this brand new role, you will be the branch between the Product Analytics Lead and the Junior members of the team assisting in improving product development by driving data-driven decision-making within the five product business units. You will work closely with Product Managers, Developers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Designers and Business Unit leaders to answer various business questions. You will coach and guide junior team members in becoming stronger product analysts.

Responsibilities:

You would structure and analyse data programmatically to derive meaningful insights, define KPIs and identify their drivers for small features or larger product road maps. Understanding customer and business needs and articulating how data analyses address these. Align diverse groups of stakeholders (e.g., designers, and product managers) to ensure data analyses are supporting a common goal. Drive adoption of best practices for analytics and support the design and implementation of good processes Present clear data-driven conclusions to non-technical stakeholders. Analyse user interactions, pathways, funnels, retention and return rates to optimise user journeys. Use web and product analytics tools such as Heap Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude (or similar).

Python and SQL are ongoing requirements within the business and you would need to be able to come in and assist the Product Lead in educating and mentoring Junior team members in developing their SQL and Python skills as the Lead needs an individual with this experience and knowledge. You would be the right-hand man to this person helping shape junior analysts into leading product analysts.

This role is very much business-facing, liaising with lots of senior-level stakeholders from a variety of work streams, so you’ll need to work with them to understand their challenges and needs and translate these into workable, analytics briefs. This requires analytical thinking, a consultative approach and a desire to own and develop a team and area of specialism.

The beauty of this role is they are already doing a lot of this already, just without a specialist in place with skills in Python and SQL – so they are very open to suggestions, guidance and ideas from this person on tech stack reviews, ways of working and process and stakeholders are already on board – so there’s no fight for engagement and education internally.

The culture is very consensus-driven, they tend to work in a very collaborative way with no dictatorship driving decision-making – it’s about bringing different perspectives together. The founder of the company is also still very much present, which drives a long-term vision approach from the top-down and a performance-driven culture which rewards high performers!

Skills and experience requirements:

· Educated to at least degree level in a relevant, numerate subject; Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics etc.

· Solid understanding of user interactions and pathway analysis; funnels, retention and return rates and optimisation of user journeys.

· Deep experience and knowledge of working with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, SQL, Adobe Analytics and ideally Python or R.

· Experience and knowledge of setting up and running A/B tests and experiments.

· Thrives in a collaborative environment, with strong skills in prioritisation, stakeholder management and a creative mindset for problem-solving.

· A highly analytical approach, with experience in translating business questions into analytics briefs.

· Experience in managing others, mentoring or formal line management is considered but not essential.

· You are comfortable with ambiguity and moving targets
