Community Manager – Fintech

My client, an exciting blockchain scale up, based in central London is looking for a community manager to join the ever-growing team.

You will be reporting directly into the Head of Marketing and Communications and play a lead role in the open sourcing of their blockchain framework. They are at the very beginning of their open-source project and are looking for someone with a proven ability to establish, grow, and lead collaborative, technology-oriented communities around open-source projects or open standards.

This role requires a tech-savvy, confident, detail-oriented individual who can interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (technical and non-technical) – someone who is comfortable being the face of the organisation at internal and external events, who can work well within a small team, handle wide-ranging responsibilities and tackle both strategic and tactical work with enthusiasm.

Day to day will involve:

• Defining a strategy to grow and sustain a long-term, thriving and active developer community which is used to support and improve the current core technology.
• You will be managing the community by nurturing contributors, driving engagement, organising IRL meet ups/hackathons and other community events which will encourage new members.
• Outside of engagement, you will produce relevant content such as wikis, blogs, code samples, code contributions, case studies, presentations etc.
• You will also liaise between the developers and the in-house engineering team to facilitate dialogue and communicate their respective needs and technology updates.
• You will need to have the confidence and in-depth understanding to assist develop partnerships and other strategic relationships with key projects, companies, universities, and thought leaders in the industry that are complementary to the project ecosystem and initiatives
• Management of the company social media and other communication channels for the open-source technology for community engagement (e.g. Slack, Telegram, Twitter, Github) is a key part of the role, so some experience in community and social media management is paramount.
• Support the open-source project, contributing to project planning and project management where relevant.
• Lastly, you will naturally analyse the efficiency of community and outreach activities and apply an analytical approach to measure success – allowing you to effectively report back and suggest improvements.

About you…

• At least three years of relevant experience.
• You have a deep and genuine interest in blockchain technology (or cryptographic systems) and knowledge of the industry landscape
• You can demonstrate previous experience in actively participating and leading a developer or open-source community and know the channels for engagement
• You are familiar with technology source code (preferably Python) and modern developer workflows/systems – including GitHub
