Head of News and Content – Higher Education

I am representing a respected UK University who are seeking a talented Head of Content to join their communications team in what will be a pivotal role.

This role will be responsible for delivering a “content first” communications plan, that will ultimately improve the brands content offering on their public facing website and online channels, ensuring consistent and engaging messaging focussed on driving brand awareness with UK and International students and academic staff.

The Role:
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Head of News and Content will be responsible for:

• Lead a rich multichannel PR communications strategy for the brand that has content as its core.
• Build a network of agency contacts and freelancers to commission content and place stories in the press, managing a small budget to do so.
• Work with a small team to create emails, blogs, press releases, social content as well as visual assets and podcasts for the brand.
• Set up processes for best practise and delivery of content for the business.
• Represent content internally and build relationships with other teams to ensure consistency of messaging across all channels.
• Understand how to optimise content for SEO to support search marketing.

The Candidate:
I would be interested to speak to candidates who can demonstrate:

• Experience planning and delivering content and broader PR communication strategies.
• A strong network of contracts within the Media and Influencer space.
• Gravitas – you must have the confidence and influencing skills to manage internal stakeholders and see content initiatives delivered end to end.
• Exposure to managing and motivating a small team.
• Experience defining and setting up process for a business in way of content publishing would be hugely beneficial.
