The Opportunity
The Head of Online is a brand-new position with one of London’s fastest growing publishing businesses. Founded five years ago, this custom publisher has delivered inspirational business content for a range of clients, and within the past 18 months, has developed an innovative content hub for one of the biggest newspaper brands in the UK.

The Company are young, collaborative and entrepreneurial, and have set themselves ambitious goals they want to deliver on over the course of the year. With this growth, comes opportunity and as such, they are now looking for a rising star to play a leading role in defining a digital strategy for the brand, develop their website and grow search traffic, and driving commercial opportunities through immersive and engaging content.

The Role
This is a blank canvas opportunity, and they are looking for an ideas-driven, digital leader who is hungry to have impact and mould the role.
Reporting into the MD, the main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading the digital and content strategy for the business.
  • Ownership of the website, and using analytics make recommendations to improve the functionality and UX.
  • Substantially increasing website traffic to drive brand awareness, audience reach and online readership.
  • Spotting new commercial opportunities for content partnerships, and work with internal teams to define and develop new digital products for clients.
  • Team management of 4, incl. developers and content marketers.

Who You Are
A digital native and an extrovert by nature, you are eager to step up into your first ‘Head of’ position and have impact from day one. Specifically, you will:

  • Have a strong track record of growing online traffic and driving audience readership and engagement, preferably within an online publishing environment.
  • Understand what makes a great UX and be able to work with developers to create new functionalities that deliver it.
  • Be a born leader – you will exude Gravitas and be comfortable inspiring, motivating and challenging stakeholders internally.
  • Have strong commercial acumen and be able to spot the opportunities.
  • Possess fantastic communication skills – this role will be the middle man between developers and the Board, so you must be comfortable articulating technical jargon to those who don’t necessarily understand the difference between HTML and Javascript.
