Communications executive

I am excited to be working a retained position with a regulated investment management membership body that represents asset managers across the UK. We are looking for a communications executive with experience working within a regulated environment who has a passion for storytelling. In this business-critical role, you will work with the Head of Communications to develop and deliver the communications strategy, monitor, and measure success of media campaigns, and help protect, promote, and enhance the reputation of the of the brand.

We are looking for a promising Communications Executive with roughly 2 years’ experience from a media agency or in house within financial services. You will have a fervent interest in the field partnered with good writing and research skills, you are also well-organised, confident and an excellent communicator. You are eager to build your career in house for a reputable financial services company.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the Head of Communications to implement a proactive communications strategy to promote the brand to the media
• Support on day-to-day media relations, from handling press queries to preparing press releases and Q&As.
• Draft press plans for events and proactive stories.
• Keep calendars (editorial, press conferences, events, awards etc.) and media lists
• Assist in tracking media coverage or metrics utilising data and analytics to seek areas for improvement
• Design and produce the monthly member newsletter and content for social channels
• Create internal communications updates for senior stakeholders and senior business leaders including ghost writing, case studies etc…
• Work with Government Affairs colleagues in the Corporate Affairs team to ensure work is integrated across media and government relations and ensure consistency of messaging

• Undertake general administrative and clerical duties

Required experience:

• Experience of working in a media relations team in a PR agency, a political party, a government department, or a financial services firm press office with experience of: strategic and tactical PR and media relations o drafting press releases and Q&As o social media and digital campaigns o preparing briefing materials for interviews
• Experience of generating proactive media stories delivering media coverage with a strong social media element.
