Digital Strategy and Planning Manager (Contract)

My client is a leading retailer, who are looking for a Digital Strategist and Planning Manager to join a fastest growing, rapidly changing team. 2019 will be the pivotal year for the team. Online Sales are growing rapidly, and the team is expanding quickly to meet the needs of consumers, and ambitions of the wider business.

The team looks after all Performance Marketing, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Online Planning for UK. You will report into the Senior Strategy Manager, to lead the online marketing strategy and digital approach.


  • You will run the digital campaign planning for a specific division delivering all the key online projects & campaigns to time and budget;
  • You will act as the key liaison between online team functions (commercial, marketing, experience and finance), receiving and translating required briefs from division to feed into our team, and ensuring we respond to the directorate priorities with proposals and activities that deliver against key performance indicators;
  • You will design integrated communication plans for key campaigns (including both product launches and customer journey improvements); defining shared goals, identifying solutions and engaging partners and agency teams to build towards a final vision;
  • You will build and develop relationships with counterparts in within the division to introduce new planning processes to ensure clear workload prioritisation is put in place, clear briefs are developed and implemented;
  • You will work alongside the Digital Management Team to ensure roles and responsibilities are clear between each function and deliver regular analysis and reviews on campaign to ensure key findings are carried forward to future activity;
  • You will provide competitor context market trends; feeding insights from our Publishers and Agency Partners into the Home Division, to improve and develop digital plans as well as lead continual improvement in team performance of self and others, cultivating a collaborative and motivated team environment.


  • Experience of developing digital strategy, ideally within a large, multinational ecommerce business and a proven track record of planning and delivering large scale digital marketing campaigns, launching new products to market across digital touchpoints;
  • Has experience of having delivered consumer-centric, data driven marketing activities at scale and speed;
  • Has demonstrable experience in leading agency partners and ideally leading virtual teams/work streams to deliver against a shared objective;
  • Has outstanding communication & organisational skills enabling you to work effectively with partners across our business as well as with external agencies;
  • You will have demonstrable experience of having planned and executed large scale marketing campaigns to launch new products and offerings in a digital environment. Additionally, a solid understanding of implementing and articulating digital strategy in a simple, engaging way – and excite internal partners to continually improve our campaign delivery;
