Solutions Engineer – API & Online Portal – London

The Company

An early, fast-growing technology company, enabling small business’s in financial systems and services to work together seamlessly; providing a simple API for connectivity to market-leading accounting, banking and commerce systems globally.

A team built in the UK only 3 years ago, the company are growing at a rapid rate, now looking to double their team from 20 people in size to 40 by the end of this year! Their mission is to handle the complexity of managing and standardising third-party API connections and schema so that their clients don’t have to.

The Role

This will be the first Solutions Engineer within the team. You will be involved in creating and implementing all presales process within the sales cycle, whilst becoming the technology evangelist, bridging the technology team, sales team and the end client.

• Qualifying a client’s needs based on driving factors and a business’s pain points.
• Identifying and putting together a trusted solution based around the products the business can provide their client.
• Understand clients’ requirements and help them design their system interaction with our API to get the most value from the product.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects, in order to work closely with their clients on their businesses requirements.
• Work with Account Managers to define value and provide in depth propositions and project delivery.
• Active participation in scoping and executing client Proofs of Concept (POCs).
• Collaborative working with internal teams (technology, logistics, professional services, etc.) to help design and communicate best-fit solutions.
• Understand and participate in performance management processes.
• Work with Delivery Consultants to design ad-hoc, innovative solutions.

The Candidate

The successful Solutions Engineer will possess the following skills and experience:

• 3+ years’ experience in solutions consulting/ sales engineering within an API or Web Applications company or within a SaaS company.
• Strong relationship building and client facing skills.
• Bachelors degree, ideally in Computer Science or Maths/Physics.
• Previous hands-on coding experience, with a strong familiarity of working on API’s themselves.
• Understanding of web-based applications and SaaS technologies.
• Proven ability to explain technical concepts to a commercial audience and vice-versa.
• Logical approach to delivery and working on client’s requirements, to realise how they align with the company’s current proposition.
• Have worked with SME to enterprise Financial Services or Financial Tech companies.
