Company –

An award-winning digital transformation services business, with a focus on Salesforce Commerce solutions, is looking to add their very first Solutions Engineer in the UK. Having recently raised $100M to boost their sales & marketing team and further develop industry solutions – this is a great time to join and be part of their next stage of growth.

Role –

As the very first Solutions Engineer in the UK you will advise customers and prospects on the use of Marketing Cloud systems, such as Salesforce or Selligent. Your purpose will be to provide the sales function with the ability to carry out technical presales on new opportunities. The role reports to the VP of Go to Market, with dotted lines to the regional sales and delivery leaders.

  • Customer-facing: the role is heavily customer facing with daily interaction with potential and existing customers.
  • Partner facing: There main technical partner is Salesforce, plus others that support our solutions. Presales engineers will face partners as well as customers and work with them to help produce the right solution.
  • Requirements focused: the role is designed to extract requirements from customers for their business needs, to allow my client to size and cost opportunities.
  • Technical proposals: presales engineers will create technical proposals for customers at a high level. While an engineer will not create detailed architectures (for example) they will make high level architectures, data flow analysis and similar proposals.
  • Integration layer from customers to delivery: presales engineers will form an integration layer between the customer and the delivery teams while proposals are being formed in the presales phase. As such they will work closely with delivery teams, consolidating customer requirements, answering questions and outlining the proposed solution. This will allow delivery teams to produce accurate estimates of the effort involved. Once a customer’s project is won, they will also handover diligently to the delivery team for successful execution.
  • Help the sales organisation: be a highly flexible and communicative member of sales teams when working on an opportunity.

Requirements –

Business Analysis: while candidates can also come from technical backgrounds such as team leads or architects, a business analysis background is preferred due to the need to understand the business requirements first to craft the right solution. As such, technical business analysts as a good fit for this position.

  • Working in virtual teams: while many will possess this due to the pandemic, the ability to work with many teams virtually, across multiple time zones is essential to this role.
  • Wide curiosity and passion for learning: a track record of being curious and exploring both business and technical needs for businesses showing a build up of skills useful to the business.
  • Presentation skills: proven ability to present solutions to non technical stakeholders on technical subjects. Both excellent language and enthusiasm for presentation be that in person or virtually.
  • Salesforce ecosystem knowledge (optional): while not essential for candidates, a working knowledge of the Salesforce ecosystem is highly beneficial. Successful candidates would be trained in this area if not.
  • Highly flexible: candidates should be able to show their previous flexibility to work on multiple opportunities at once, join short notice calls and be adaptable to changing needs of opportunities.
