Field Application Engineer – Internet of Things

Location: Munich, Germany

Salt are currently supporting a global leader in embedded software as they seek a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join their team in Munich, supporting customers in Internet of Things (IoT) with an emphasis on Industry 4.0/IIoT.

This role will be a blend of client-facing activities with technical tasks, with the FAE becoming the go-to person for new and existing IoT customers seeking in-depth technical product expertise. This would be done in parallel to supporting the Sales Manager for Industrial customers in both pre-sales and post-sales environments.

Responsibilities:

• Build relationships with Industrial IoT customers and prospects and provide them with technical expertise during pre-sales and post-sales activities.
• Support the Sales Manager and Engineers in identifying the most appropriate solutions for customers after analysing their requirements.
• Provide technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers.
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and provide useful market insights to the business.

Technical Requirements:

• BSc. in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering
• Extensive knowledge of embedded software development
• Knowledge of embedded operating systems (Linux, VxWorks etc.)
• Knowledge of embedded Linux, ideally in addition to Yocto Linux
• Understanding of IoT/Industry 4.0 and/or safety critical software development is a bonus

Soft Skills Required:

• Comfortable in customer-facing environments and activities, such as presenting to C-level stakeholders.
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative, international team.
• Consultative approach, with ability to influence decision-making of stakeholders.
• Positive, proactive attitude to tasks, with a desire to build a career in IoT and digital technologies.
• Willingness to travel throughout Germany to be on-site with customers where required.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone either in an FAE/Pre-Sales role excited by IoT, or someone looking to progress from Software Development or Software Engineering into a more client-facing role.

Location: Munich, travel required with Germany
Salary: Dependent on experience, circa €80K – €120K OTE (70/30 split) + car + benefits
