Network Design And Build Engineer

My client are looking for an experienced design and build engineer to join their network team based in Leicestershire

Responsibilities:

• Be a hands-on subject matter expert for our data center networks
• Create and drive short and long term plans and initiatives
• Provide technical direction and insight for projects, discovery, and problem management
• Partner with application and business teams to align strategy
• Provide operational support for multi-vendor, multi-region production network at-scale
• Participate in regular, frequent project meetings to address challenges and drive milestones
• Improve the reliability and efficiency of production network and drive best practices
• Write simple to moderately complex scripts and programs for automation, tools, frameworks, dashboards, alarms. (common uses: Python, Go)
• Identify, test and integrate new products, operating systems and feature sets

Key Qualifications:

• Must have proven track record in leading initiatives independently with minimal supervision
• Strong Cisco Experience
• CCNP or equivalent qualified
• 8-12+ years of experience in designing and building production networks at-scale
• Subject-matter expert in core networking principles and protocols such as MP-BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRF, VxLAN, EVPN, QoS, GRE, IP SEC, DNS, MACsec.
• Expert in building and operating large scale networks using technologies, such as optical/DWDM, CDN, edge network security, DDoS mitigation, load balancing.
• Deep understanding of various infrastructure technologies for server virtualization, container, databases, message queuing services, large-scale infrastructure provisioning and management
• Extensive experience in deploying and managing large network using scripts or automation frameworks, such as Python, Ansible, YAML, or Netconf/YANG
• Working experience in building and managing connectivity on public cloud (AWS, GCP)
• Experience in selecting, testing, and deploying networking hardware and software.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

Desirable is experience working within the rail /transport sector
