Software Architect | Contract | Remote | £600 p/day+ | 3 months rolling
Position Summary
My client are looking for a Software Architect, you will be working under the guidance of the Principal Architect and alongside the team’s Product Managers, Project Incubation Managers, User Experience/ Product Designers, and Tools Specialists, this multi-faceted role will drive the overall engineering and architectural approach for my clients tools, products and services.
This includes defining the technology stack for custom-built solutions, overseeing the overall architecture and design of software from both internal and external resources, directing governance and implementation, providing strategic and tactical direction to development teams, taking part in hands-on development, conducting formal code reviews, ensuring performance and scalability baselines, and driving overall quality standards.
Experience Required
- Total of 10+ years of relevant work experience with a technical or engineering focus
- Minimum 5 years designing, architecting, and leading teams in the delivery of enterprise grade, highly performant, secure and scalable solutions, applications, and cloud platforms
- Experience leading, mentoring and growing multiple teams, working on multiple products, services and or projects
- Strong experience and understanding of a number of the following: .NET Core/C#, Java (spring), Python, Kubernetes/Docker, micro-services, Node.js, React.js, Angular.js, Big Data (e.g. Spark, RedShift, Kafka …), AI/ ML, NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB), OLAP and OLTP relational databases,
- Experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring development teams in a fast-paced Agile environment
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of cloud architectures and services (AWS, Azure), relational and columnar databases, analytical tools and technologies, visualization and BI platforms including integration
- Willingness and desire to be hands-on and code alongside development teams
- Ability to ruthless prioritize time and tasks according to business needs and value, avoid low-value add daily fire-fighting in order to hit long-term goals and objectives
- Strong advisory and influencing skills of senior stakeholders and management
- Results focused, keeping an eye on the overall outcome and desired impact
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface across many areas.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, a willingness to think outside the box and to try new things, not be afraid to fail
- Ability to travel as needed, including internationally, up to 25% of the time
Preferred
- Experience and knowledge of Big Data systems and technologies, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
