Cyber Security DBA

The Security DBA will Provide specialised support to security and database related projects fort the business, working with teams to integrate and support deployment of Data Security tools to discover, classify and protect sensitive data within the database environments of key clients. Creating, applying and monitoring security polices and reports. Configuration of the Data Security Fabric platform as a part of the delivery into operations process. Auditing, monitoring and reporting on security and audit policies will also be part of day-to-day role. Collaborating with the clients project technical team, other DBA’s, Networking team and OS Platform teams is necessary to discover, develop and maintain database security policy, standards and baselines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Part of a Team that will deliver a new and updated Data Security platform for key important customers.
• Monitoring user (including dba’s) access and security.
• Progress reporting
• Delivering against tight deadlines
• Mapping out the conceptual design for a planned database
• Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act, EUGDPR, PCI-DSS and SOX compliancy;
• Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary
• Controlling access permissions and privileges;
• Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans;
• Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly;
• Capacity planning;
• Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in computing (information Technology) is a must
• Experience with Imperva and other similar application security products and Vendors
• Skilled Security DBA, who is a fast learner, quick thinker and ready for new challenges
• 3 – 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator supporting SQL*, Oracle, MySQL, Mongo and other Database types on Wintel and *NIX platforms is essential
• Database security focused individual with problem-solving and good analytical skills
• Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design
• Flexibility and adaptability
• Good organisational skills
• The skill to work to tight deadlines under pressure
• The ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and customers
• Business awareness and understanding of business requirements of IT
• A willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology
• An understanding of Data Protection Act, EUGDPR, PCI-DSS and SOX
• Strong communication skills, team player and ability to present clearly
