Big Data Engineer (Hadoop OR ETL)


We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to join a hyper-growth company valued at more than $1billion as a Big Data Engineer building a Greenfield data platform. You will join a revolutionary technology company experiencing unprecedented growth who have built a marketplace which empowers small businesses to grow on a mission to build a better financial world.

You will join a newly created data team with no legacy code creating sustainable, and scalable infrastructure to power business decisions on a global scale. Data quality is crucially important in this environment, so we are looking for Big Data Engineers who ensure this is at the bedrock of everything you do. The team is growing fast! That said you will have an incredible amount of influence on the entire data strategy and provide mission critical solutions.

As a Big Data Engineer, you will:

  • Implement and design scalable data pipelines from web and marketing analytics providers
  • Use web and social data to develop scalable data warehousing solutions
  • Work with Product Owners and other business stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver outcomes.
  • Be a data evangelist, collaborate and make high quality data-driven decisions

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have working experience of the kafka stack and be familiar working in an AWS environment.
  • Exposure working with large or complex datasets and understand the issues that can arise from them.
  • Experience as a Data Engineer building data pipelines and dimensional models
  • Additional skills in SQL and Python are essential and bonus points if you come with Clojure skills.
  • It is advantageous but by no means essential if you have worked in a regulated industry, have experience in a virtualized environment or programming knowledge in R, SAS, JavaScript and model building.
