Salt are currently working with a client based in London looking for a business analyst to join on an initial 3 month contract.

  • The scope of the role is to focus on the delivery into the Business of an application consolidation and data lake project. The project aims to stand up a new data lake based on the Hadoop technology stack to be used as an archive for data from systems that are being decommissioned.

    The key responsibilities are:

  • Business Analyst will liaise with internal and external stakeholders translating requirements into highly specified project briefs.
  • Perform analysis and design activities on Business and IT initiatives by eliciting, defining, validating and translating business functional, non-functional and information objectives, then validating them when implemented.
  • Supports and leads where needed the various activities between the teams, for the implementation of the new data lake, including decommissioning, to ensure the business and technical requirements and objectives are met.
  • Partner closely with business and technical teams supporting the systems and applications decommissioning activities, verify and agree with the relevant business and IT stakeholders to decommission and switch off the systems/applications and relevant infrastructure components.
  • Gather understanding of the systems and business processes supported by the system(s).
  • Evaluate current and develop new processes and procedures and ensure their relevance and accuracy.
  • Ensure appropriate project documentation is compiled and proper review and approvals from respective teams and stakeholders is gathered and collated.
  • Prepare status updates on a regular basis.
  • Experience required

  • 5+ years Business Analyst experience, proficient in analysis techniques (interviews, questionnaires, workshops, prototyping, observation, documentation and process analysis).
  • Business change and customer facing experience, to ensure stakeholders are managed appropriately
  • Technical awareness and understanding of systems, servers and databases

  • Experience of decommissioning systems and hardware
  • Understanding and experience of Data Lake technologies (Hadoop stack)
