Data Engineer

Our client are one of the major players within the French e-commerce sector, that as a business have continued to go from strength to strength over the past year. Due to the expansion of the company, they are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join their team.

You will be responsible for developing solutions able to collect, store and operate on large volumes of data in the most flexible yet resilient way possible to meet the necessary business challenges, designing and implementing data ingestion solutions and working as part of a larger team to ensure that customers have the best possible experience whilst using the online platform.

The successful candidate will join the team at their state of the art offices which are based in the centre of Paris, with a rooftop terrace that looks over the picturesque city.

Your day to day:

• You will work with raw and denormalized data to be cleaned and extracted inferring any schemas, transformation/aggregation functions and data modelling requirements
• Maintaining existing pipelines and ensure they remain secure, scalable and most importantly stable and available to various data consumers in analytics and BI Maintain and respect our level of quality within the requirements/development/industrialisation cycle (documentation, unit/integration/functional tests, deprecation and versioning, etc.)
• Implementing batch and streaming data pipelines for ingestion, transformation and analysis (machine learning) and to expose any data as services (APIs)

Qualifications:

• Experience with the following technologies: Datomic, Clojure, Google BigQuery & Dataflow and Elasticsearch
• A bachelors degree in Software Engineering or a related technical field
• An autonomous and proactive attitude, with a passion for tackling hard problems and participating in capturing requirements from other teams (Logistics, Finance, etc.)
• A genuine interest of working within an e-commerce space
• Passion for data modelling and being able to transform it in a distributed manner
• Must be willing to learn, have the ability to solve technical problems and be keen to bring new ideas to the business
