European Data Lead

Salt are currently looking for a European Data Lead to join a client of theirs on a permanent basis. The purpose of this position is to lead the Data Team in building the data infrastructure and support the monitoring function. In particular, the role focuses on supporting the process of ingesting data from partners, and developing monitoring capabilities.

Essential skills & experience

· Proven experience in working in the insurance industry, involving product experience (ideally pricing and developing personal lines business)

· Structured, analytical with a problem-solving approach and a high level of attention to detail. Must love working with data

· In depth knowledge of all transactional aspects of the life cycle of an insurance policy (underwriting, MTA, renewals, conversions, etc.)

· Excellent programming skills including expertise in SQL, SAS, R, etc (Expert Level in Excel, Access). Ability to use advanced techniques to handle big data with structured and unstructured data.

· Experience with data modelling and working with relational databases

· Ability to define test strategies and controls

· Strong Project Management skills in order to meet deliverables

· Ability to lead and work in a small and dynamic team

· Ability to lead and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

· Great communication skills, effectively communicate complex ideas to primary business partners, both verbally and in writing

· Ability to work independently and take initiative for the progress of the team

Desirable skills & experience

· Ability to interpret data and analysis results to generate insight

· Experience of reporting and visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, R-Shiny, SSRS

· Broad knowledge base of statistics and statistical interpretation of quantitative data

· Experience of working with start-ups, preferably Fintech or Insurtech

· Experience in designing data warehouses

· Experience with ETL workflows

· Customer focused

· Flexible and adaptable

Typical qualifications for this role

· Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or similar or equivalent years of relevant work experience

· A minimum of five years of experience in a data or product analyst role within an insurance environment

· Actuarial backgorund preffered
