Automation Engineer – DevOps/ Full stack

Automation Engineer | C. London | Contract | £500-600 p/day doe

My client are looking for a Automation engineer who will be responsible for integrating their tech stack and engineering end-to-end solutions to ensure the environment is optimized and performant.

The position will be an integral member of the wider digital team and will be highly visible, you will be part of a cross-functional delivery team which comprises Dev, Ops, SRE, QA and Security to create a dependency-free outcome-based team.

The team and company:

My client is a global consumer company going through a huge transformation. This role will be part of their Digital Infrastructure and Operations team, which is responsible for running all of their online customer-facing platforms worldwide.. DI&O will play a big part of this journey by protecting, operating, improving and automating this platform.

The Digital team will span a number of key areas including Cybersecurity, Site Reliability Engineering, Core Technology, Service Operations and Feature Activation and Enablement – it’s a core part of their business and one of the most exciting places to be.

The role:

You will be building their new TechOps stack, compromising service, alerting, monitoring, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure and status management. The aim is to get a self-serve platform that the dev community can leverage to provision and ensure end-to-end automation for all their platforms. The ideal candidate will be a hybrid, full stack developer with software dev experience as well as infrastructure automation experience to help build the TechOps stack.

Responsibilities:

• Always looking to automate manual processes.
• Build the TechOps stack that will support their entire environment and will be the precursor for a successful launch of the Digital Platform support model
• Driving on-boarding of core automation tools, services and apps.
• Participating in and promoting the DevOps Community.
• Optimising systems for performance and scalability, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation.
• Focusing on automation, from our deployment pipelines to the creation of their cloud infrastructure.
• Enabling visibility with telemetry, logging, monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Working in a data driven environment to set, monitor and meet ambitious quality of service goals.

Key skills:

• Deep understanding of DevOps CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, config-as-code.
• Dev and management of: Ansible, Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, Angular, NodeJS.
• A love of monitoring and experience of several monitoring/alerting technologies
• Use of Infrastructure as a Code tools including Ansible, Terraform and CloudFormation.
• A full stack software engineer.
