DevOps Engineer

Our Client is a startup tackling the big problems in global health. They created a lightweight, connectable app that improves access to care and save lives. They work in emerging economies and have partnered with NGOs, Governments, and healthcare professionals around the world.

Their company culture is open, creative, and collaborative. They love design, and believe that products, whether used in Sudan or San Francisco should be intuitive and beautiful. They use Node.js, MongoDB, and React for their core applications, and support these with a data platform that uses Kafka and Python. They deploy on AWS, GCP, and on regional servers.

This is a full-time position, based in Farringdon, London. They facilitate flexible working and part-remote opportunities.

This role reports directly to the CTO.

We are interested in meeting candidates across a range of experience levels to join their dedicated DevOps team. This includes more junior engineers who may be considering a career pivot towards DevOps.

You:

  • Are interested in finding great solutions that are scalable, performant, cost-effective, and easy to maintain.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with a wide team that includes non-technical members.
  • Have excellent communication skills (written & verbal!)
  • Bring enthusiasm, curiosity and innovation to your work.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience working with provisioning tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation;
  • Familiarity with cloud based applications on AWS (or GCP/Azure) and relevant services for storage, application hosting;
  • Experience working with Docker containers and ideally deploying into Kubernetes
  • An understanding of network topologies, CIDR and AWS networking (VPC, subnets, IGW, route tables);
  • Experience with operational monitoring with a tool such as Datadog;
  • Monitoring security in an operational environment (using tools such as Cloudsploit);
  • working with a programming language (Python ideally) and scripting languages (Bash etc…);
  • A good understanding of Linux essentials (working with the command line);
  • A strong understanding of SQL and relational databases; and
  • Working with build tools and continuous integration.
