DevOps Engineer – GCP

Our client is a Technology enabled business and key to the success of the business is the Technology team and the Technology that runs the business. They need Technology that is operationally excellent, secure, reliable, performant and scalable for their customers and that is architected to make the Technology team as efficient as possible.

They have migrated most of their infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform and are now looking to take their Infrastructure and Application Architecture to the next level using the GCP services that are now available.

The role has two main missions:

• You will lead the DevOps Infrastructure team evolving the infrastructure to be operationally excellent, secure, reliable, performant and scalable
• You will work with the Engineering team to architect and build a best in class Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline.

They need an expert to own and shape their DevOps and Infrastructure technology so that they can grow the Business and the efficiency of the Technology team.

This is primarily an individual contributor role, but will also have one offshore direct report. It would suit either an individual that has worked in a similar role before or a skilled individual from a larger team environment that is looking to move to take complete responsibility and ownership, with a direct reporting line to the CTO.

To succeed, you will ideally have the following experience…

• In depth experience of operating an on-line public facing technology platform e.g. transactional website
• 5 years of Cloud Infrastructure experience
• Minimum 3 years of Google Cloud Platform experience, ideally GCP certified
• Partnered with Engineering to implement and improve a CI/CD pipeline
• Infrastructure architecture expertise delivering – security, reliability, performance, scalability
• Worked successfully with offshore teams

And technical expertise with…

• Our client’s infrastructure is primarily Linux, Docker, Nginx, Google Cloud SQL, Stackdriver/Zabbix and soon Kubernetes
• CI/CD pipeline platforms such as TeamCity or Github CI
• Knowledge of their data technology stack of Cloud Composer, Apache Airflow, Google BigQuery and Tableau is preferred but not essential
• Knowledge of their development technology stack (Angular, Vue.js, GraphQL, PHP with Symfony) would be useful but is not essential
