DevOps Infrastructure Specialist | 3 months | Swindon

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Infrastructure Development team for individuals with deep technical knowledge of containerisation. Focusing on project delivery, you will be expected to work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision as you will be responsible for delivery of container solutions on a Red Hat Linux platform in a fast paced, innovative banking environment. We are undertaking a massive investment in our technology strategy and containerisation is a fundamental building block to driving that transformation. Industry: Financial Services

Mandatory Technical experience:

• OpenShift Container Platform deployment, management, security, troubleshooting
• Ansible – automating platform build, deployment and remediation
• Docker containers – image management, security, deployment
• Dev Ops tools (e.g. Git, Jenkins, Gerrit)
• RHEL6 and 7 (all aspects)
• Comfortable with VMWare as well as physical servers (eg. Cisco UCS blades)

You will understand how to work within a large project structure and will have a working knowledge of ITIL and project management methodologies. You should be capable of recommending process improvements based on identified risks and recurrent issues. You will be self-motivated, flexible, hungry to drive change, and demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to successful project delivery. Good communication & time management skills are essential in order to manage project team expectations. Experience working within a Financial Services background would be desirable.

Desirable skills:

• Experience with AWS or other cloud solution
• Understanding of IP networks, routing, firewall rules, DNS, DHCP, Load balancing
• Basic Active Directory concepts
• RedHat Satellite
• Linux middleware: web servers, databases, etc
• Other Linux/Unix flavours eg. Solaris, AIX
• ServiceNow

About the role
Based in Swindon within the Infrastructure Development group, you will be a member of a team whose function is to deliver and maintain container platforms both on premises and in the cloud which will be consumed by large business transformation programs. You will be expected to ensure project tasks are completed on time, to the appropriate quality standard and meet regulatory requirements, whilst ensuring appropriate support documentation is completed and updated. Project tasks will consist of building, testing and automating OpenShift environments with appropriate handover to operations teams for ongoing support. You will be expected to interact with project teams, development centres, and 3rd parties on a daily basis. There will be ample opportunity to cross train in other Unix platforms and emerging DevOps technologies if so desired.
