Lead DevOps Engineer – London – c£105k – AWS

About the Role

I am currently working alongside one of the UK’s leading Automotive Traders, helping them find a Lead DevOps Engineer to join their team. This is an outstanding opportunity for you to become part of an award-winning business, working with them to build out and lead a brand new DevOps department.

This role is an office/remote split. It will be 2/3 days remote per week, with 1 month fully remote per year.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain & support their AWS environments
• Build appropriate tooling for engineering teams.
• Reduce manual work for the technology team with automation where possible.
• Own and implement appropriate monitoring & alerting. Assist the development teams in using these metrics to ensure the reliability of the platform across all services across all deployments.
• Define service level objectives.
• Own and implement new continuous deployment & release improvements to support their ambitious future plans.

Essential Skills & Qualification

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS
• Experienced leading teams
• Relevant qualifications and/or experience

Bonus Knowledge

• Experience with Heroku or similar PaaS.
• Experience with container deployment platforms like Kubernetes.
• Experience with Docker & Containerisation.
• Prior evidence of developing command-line tools.
• Experience with Serverless technologies e.g. AWS Lambda.
